July 12th 11.30am
Waterside Gardens, Evesham
Each year on the same weekend, Evesham hosts the most spectacular waterways festival and accepted as one of the best in the country. Wendy and I have been attending for over 20 years with our boats, first with One Moore and in the last 7 years ‘Lord Toulouse’, which this year won best boat in show. Normally we would be there for the whole weekend and invite friends and colleagues for food and wine to watch the illuminated boat parade and fireworks on the Saturday evening. This festival attracts thousands of people to Evesham and is an important part of our festival season as well as being enormous fun. This year Wendy and I had to be in Worcester on the evening of 11th but were very please to be able to present an award to Lew Hammond, Evesham’s Town Centre Manager, for all his work over the last 13 years of promoting Evesham and the area. The festival organisers invited Lew to arrive in style:-
Having been rowed across the river by Evesham Sea Cadets, Lew is welcomed by committee Chairman Hazel Hanlon
Lew inspects the Evesham Sea Cadets
Lew seems pleased with his Galileo thermometer
Hazel says the final thank you’s and informs everybody that after 24 years of organising the festival, next year will be her last. So we need a new chairman…………..fancy being involved? Contact me and I will pass on your details.
